R DUPLEX

The 'R Duplex' project is a renovation project of a small one storey apartment into a larger, more spacious duplex which fits more functions and which could satisfy the needs of a growing family. 

 The idea was to segregate the privacy of the bedrooms from the rest of the functions.

The first floor was the whole apartment. It consisted of a living room, open kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 ensuite bathroom and one 1/2 bathroom. 

After the renovation, the functions changed to 3 bedrooms along with 3 ensuite bathrooms. A spiral staircase was also added between the bedrooms to connect the first floor to the second.

The second floor, originally, did not belong to the apartment and hosted only the services serving the whole house. 

After the renovation, second floor hosted both services serving the whole house as well as functions which serve the duplex alone. 

The focal point of the second floor is the 'Roof Garden' which creates an internal view for the kitchen and living room simultaneously. 

The idea of the interior was to be very clean, subtle and calm. This was achieved by using neutral tones all around the duplex to create a harmonious feel throughout.

The contrast of textures creates depth and detail to the space. 

Also, the abundance of natural light in the space creates a very bright and light interior.
